Dans Hamptons.com David Lion A Blast From The Past: Sculpture in Front Of Dan’s Papers Meets Its Maker Ahh the Hamptons. Things have definitely changed. We got a visit this morning from a couple who sat indian style out in front of the office until we came out to say hello. When I did, I learned that the sculpture in front of our office, which has stood there for nearly 30 years, was just having a visit from its maker. The sculpture "Reception", depicted in the picture above, by Jeffery Parson, has become some what of a legend at our office. But we finally have recieved the official story. Mr. Parson used to show a lot of art at the Elaine Benson Gallery in the eighties. "I made the piece in 1980 and then Dan said he had a home for it in front of Dan's Papers." It's been there ever since. Amazing. |
Like we say at SculptSite "SCULPTURE: Helping to Ground a Hurried World". This is one of the many important facets of sculpture - TIME. This sculpture has been there for 30 years, a sound bite which lasts 30 seconds is a very long one, most are far less. Sculpture is an important and lasting part of our lives... Thanks to Jeffery Parson and all the Sculptors who make our lives so much richer! |
Who were these hippies in front of the DP office this afternoon? Jeffery is pictured above with Lauren Oliver, his "life partner." |
